Euronet Supports Stablecoin Cards with Fireblocks Wallets- Nilson Report

Euronet Worldwide is an independent electronic payment network, third-party merchant acquirer processor, ATM and POS terminal infrastructure provider and cross-border money transfer company that handles 20 billion transactions annually from customers across the globe.

In October 2025, Euronet purchased the credit card account processing assets of CoreCard for $248 million in an all-stock transaction. The company has another cloud-native card processing system it calls the Ren Payments Platform. Between Ren and CoreCard, Euronet handles 160 million credit cards worldwide.

Euronet is leveraging both platforms and direct connections to Visa and Mastercard to offer financial institutions and fintechs a stablecoin-backed card issuing capability they can offer on a white-label basis to their customers.

The custodial and noncustodial wallets that financial institutions and their customers will use to issue, store and move stablecoins will be provided by Fireblocks. Other wallet customers of Fireblocks include Visa, Nuvei, Global Payments (Worldpay), Stripe, Checkout.com, Episode Six and Paysafe.

Euronet will facilitate all settlement into and from stablecoin wallets with both Fireblocks and the card networks, provide reporting to its financial institution clients and also manage regulatory compliance, governance and transaction policies.

All Visa and Mastercard stablecoin-backed cards will be prefunded products. Merchants will not need to make any changes to their point-of-sale systems because spending will occur in fiat currency. Fireblocks and Euronet have already completed a proof-of-concept test. Like Euronet, Fireblocks has support teams worldwide.

Most of the more than 170 stablecoin card programs currently operating on the Visa and Mastercard networks are tied to fintechs. Euronet expects stablecoin card demand will come initially from its full-service bank customers in Asia-Pacific and Latin America interested in offering custodial and noncustodial wallets and operating their own prepaid ledgers.

Adoption will be helped by making stablecoin wallets available through a cardholder’s existing bank app and creating an experience for the consumer that closely resembles familiar card account behavior.
